Returned Soldier Fined “It’s a very poor compliment to your deceased comrade, said Mr. Stilwell, in the Magistrates’ Court, terday. when,Gordon Alfred 'Poole Ple“d' ed guilty to a charge ot having unlawfully worn a Military Medal ribbon. Accuse had told the police that the ribbon had been won bv a friend who was killed in Crete. He had returned from service in a furlough draft and had been discharge! from the army last November He wore his uniform again, with the ribbon, when travelling to the South Island. “It is the desire of the Defence Department to make it known that this class of offence will not be tolerated, said benlorSergeant Paine. Accused was fined £5 with costs.
