CONSULATE CLOSED
Germans Leave Tangier MADRID, May 17. It is officially announced that the German Consulate at Tangier was closed and sealed yesterday. Britain permitted the members of the staff to return to Germany via the Straits of Gibraltar and Spain. The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Kden, states British Official AVireless, said in the House of Commons: “Satisfactory discussions are proceeding'between .British, American and Spanish experts in Madrid regarding technical measures required in connexion with the wolfram clauses of the agreement. The Spanish Government has already given instructions for the release of the remaining Italian ships, and considerable progress has been made in regard to the departure of German agents from Spain. "The Spanish Government has also recently requested the Japanese Government to arrange the early departure from Tangier of the members of the staff of the Japanese Embassy in Madrid, who have been residing in Tangier iu recent months.”
