I.L.O. DECLARATION

President Roosevelt’s Endorsement (Received May 18, 7.40 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 17, After witnessing the president of the International Labour Office conference, Mr. Nash and the acting-director, Mr. J. Phelan sign the 1.L.0. declaration, President Roosevelt recalled that he participated in the first 1.L.0. conference in Washington in 1919. He said that the 1.L.0. Philadelphia declaration might acquire a similar significance to the American Declaration of Independence which was also signed in Philadelphia. “Your plana for the future development - of the 1.L.0, form an admirable pattern for formulating certain aspects of the peace,” he said. “I want to assure you that this Government will do everything in its power to see that provisions for the attainment of these social labour objectives shall be included.”
