MINISTER EXPLAINS
Government Nominee On Harbour Board “In reply to your letter with reference to the appointment of a Government representative on the. Nelson Harbour Board, I desire to point out that it is my prerogative as Minister of Marine to appoint whosoever I consider to be the most suitable person,” said the Minister of Marine, Mr. O’Brien, in reply to a letter expressing “surprise and regret” that Mr. J. H. Brunt had not been reappointed Government nominee on the Nelson Harbour Board. The letter had -|>een sent forward to the Minister by the chairman of the Nelson Fruit Advisory Committee. Mr. L. B. Robiuson. “While I appreciate the services rendered by Mr. Brunt, I am of opinion that sections of the community other than those represented- by Mr. Brunt should have representation on the board. Mr. Brunt is free to offer himself as a candidate for election to the liarbour board, and according to your letter he should have no difficulty in remaining a member of the board.”
