WOOL CHEQUE

Auckland’s Good Season (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. May 17. A wool cheque of £2,025,891, representing the sale of 106,694 bales, lias been distributed in Auckland Province this season. The figures are only slightly lower than the peak level recorded in 1942-43. when £2,039,839 was realized for 106,763 bales. The average per bale this season was £lB/19/9, against £l9/2/1 for the previous period. Commenting on the figures, the chairman of the Auckland Woolbrokers’ Association, Mr. H. Duke, said tlie season’s results were exceedingly satisfactory and much better than might have been expected in view of the serious difficulties arising from war conditions.
