AMERICA TO MAKE FEWER FIGHTERS
WASHINGTON, May 17. The Navy Department announced that it has ordered a reduction in the production of navy fighter planes. It explained that losses were 33 per cent., less than estimated, because of low attrition rate, relative air superiority and the superior quality of planes and pilots.
