DAIRYMEN’S DEMAND

(Received May 17, 9.20 p.m.) SYDNEY. May 17. No milk will be served to householders in Sydney and Newcastle after Friday. Dairymen made this decision following the refusal of the Federal Government to grant a subsidy of 3Jd. a gallon to suppliers serving this zone. The ActingPrime Minister, Mr. Forde, announced yesterday that the Government would pay a subsidy of 2Jd. a gallon, but dairyfarmers rejected the offer as insufficient. Suburban dairymen will supply milk free to hospitals.
