Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, May 17. His Excellency the Gowrnor-General presided at a meeting of the Executive Council this morning. This afternoon his .Excellency received Mr. Essington Lewis, Director-General of Munitions and of Aircraft Production in Australia.

Dr. C. E. Beeby, Director of Education. is visiting Auckland.

Mr. F. K. Hunt, the former magistrate. has been nominated for a seat on tlie Westland Hospital Board. Mr. Hunt was stationed at Auckland when lie retired. and before that was in Wellington. Canon A. Hodge, of All Saints’ Church, Taradale, is to retire nt the end of July after 58 years of unbroken service in the Anglican'ministry. He was ordained at Kadina, near Adelaide, and after 12 years in Australia was called to St. Clair, Dunedin, serving afterward at Taradale and Napier, He is now 81 years old.
