RUGS FOR THE WOUNDED
A Wellington resident, Mrs. Anyon, Island Bay, who is more than 80 years of age. has completed three handmade crochet rugs which she has given for the use of wounded soldiers. Two have been presented to the New Zealand hospital ship and the third was given to a badlycrippled -British soldier on a trip from Egypt to Durban. The wool for the rugs comes from Mrs. An yon’s farm and is dyed by her daughters, in soft pastel shades. The rugs have a pretty patchwork quilt look and are soft and very warm.
