MEN’S HOCKEY
The men’s hockey season in Wellington opened on Saturday with a full programme in the three top grades, and the results of the inatehe-s largely followed the form of last season. ’l’lif Karori team, which included an outstanding forward line, soundly -defeated Trentham Army, newcomers to the senior ranks and. also to Wellington Centre hockey. The soldiers, however, showed that when the.y settle down they may prove troublesome to most of their companions in senior ranks. Varsity A. were not too convincing against Technical Old Boys, and Air Force were not too happy against a sadly changed Dorset, who nave lost many of the players who helped the team to share the championship last year. Wellington, returning to competition hockey, drew with Huia, and College Old Boys beat Varsity B with a two-goal margin. Results:— Seniors. —Training College defaulted to Wellington College; Varsity A 4 (Smiles 3, Ting 1), Technical College Old Boys 2 (Mosten, Adams) ; Wellington 2 (Ferguson, Maloney).
