ALGIERS CENSORSHIP
Interview With Marshal , Tito (Received May 14, 8 p.m.) • NEW YORK. May 14* Allied censors in Algiers censored the first interview given by Marshal Tito to the American Press. Censors prevented the Associated Press of America from transmitting an interview, and representations to Washington and London to get clearance of the story were unsuccessful. The executive director of the Associated Press, Mr. Kent Cooper, iu a message to General Sir Henry Maitland Wilson, Commander-in-Chief in the Middle East, said : “Suppression of this interview constitutes political censorship, despite your assurances and those of the British and American Governments that political censorship would not be introduced in the Mediterranean theatre. We wmi'd like a statement of the reasons for suppression.” General Wilson did not reply.
