TRUK ATOLL AGAIN

Heavy Raid By U.S. Army Liberators (Received May 14, 10.15 p.m.) WASHINGTON, May 14. A heavy attack on Truk atoll by two flights of army Liberators before dawn Thursday is reported in the- Pacific Fleet communique. Sixty-two tons of bombs were dropped on airfields, causing fires ami explosions. One intercepting enemy plane was shot down and another probably destroyed. All the Liberators returned. Single planes on the same day bombed Ponape Island and the airstrip on Kusaie Island. -A search plane shot down a Japanese medium bomber north-east of Truk. Other planes bombed enemyheld positions in the Marshalls, hitting the runways, flak batteries, aud barracks.
