OBITUARY

Mr. L. H. Arcus The death occurred in Wellington on Thursday of Mr. Laurence Herbert Arcus, a well-known schoolteacher, Mr. Arcus, who was 58 years of age. was born in Nelson. but. lived the greater part of his earlier life in Wellington. After leaving school lie joined the staff of the Education Board as a pupil teacher, mid later taught at the Ml. Cook, Lyall Bnv and Ohitti Schools. He was next appointed headmaster of the Lansdowne School, mid later returned to Wellington as headmaster of the Seafoun School, from which he graduated to the Brooklyn mid I’erhmnpo ■ Schools. He retired last year, after having been associated with the teaching profession for 42 years. Mr. Arcus was it- member of the Manchester Unity of Oddfellows. He is survived by his wife mid eight sons mid daughters.
