The four-year-old DeCoe mare Foxcatcher, who has 7.5 In the open seven at Otaki, has won once this season, beating a strong field in the Belmont Hack Handicap, one mile, at Ttentham last October. She has been unplaced In her last five starts, her last outing in public being at Trentham on Anniversary Day, when she started in the open mile, and after being prominent early drifted. If she ran up to the form which enabled her to beat all but* Rink over nine furlongs at Rlecarton last November, she would have a chance In today’s field. W’on Last Start. The connexions of the lour-year-old Lady Spiral, who finished third to Flying Ace and Cordaj- in the Thompson Handicap at Trentham in March, are reported to be confident of her chances in the Rauitawa Handicap at Otaki, in which she bus 7.12, the weight she carried in winning at her last start, the Makino Handicap, one mile and a distance, on the second day at Feilding last month. In 18 starts this season, the Spiral mare has had live wins, four seconds, and two thirds, earning £1485 in stakes. Lady Spiral lias run her best races out in front, and her clash with the promoted hack Langue d’Or, who also has 7.12, and the topweight. Moutoa Bond, 9.0, should be interesting. •

Speedy Hack. Hunting Camp, who figures among the hack sprinters at Te Arolia, lias won twice this season, both times at six furlongs. He lias 8.4 in the Junction Handicap, and, being by Hunting Song, the heavy going will not bother him. Hurtller of Promise. i

At Ids first attempt over hurdles at the recent Waikato meeting, the Ringmaster gelding Sir Ringman was third to Winning Tray and Gold Cape, finishing well from the back. He was allowed to forgo his engagement in the hack liurdles nt Te Arolia, but appears on the minimum in the Great Northern Hurdles. Sir Ringmau

lias won twice and had .three minor planings in hack company tills season, and as lie is only a four-year-old he should develop tn 'the jumping departinent. though whither he would be seasoned enough to complete the two miles and a half journey in the Great Northern Hit’dies is another matter. Sir Ringman is trained at Takahini bv H. Gray for Dr. W. C. Ring. Babrow Well.

Though he was prominent In Hie middle stages of the Foley Memorial, Babrow found the mile and a half Journey too far for him and finished second last. Previously lie ran a good fourth to Cambria, Cornish and .Monte Cristo over a mile at Ellerslie nt Easter, and on that showing must be given a chance over seven furlongs in the Electric Handicap at Te Arolia. The Hunting Song galloper has not had a win this season in 16 starts, but is reported to tie looking well, and with 7.8 lias a bandy weight.

Promising Novices. Two novices who have performed credit ably in their latest- races are Ernada and Esmonde. and they may be worth watching in the next ‘few starts, specially as they seem to be suited by soft going. Ernada is a four-ycar-olil by Plato from Royal Shadow, and is trained at Avondale by S. G. Lindsay. Esmonde is a three-year-old by Whirlwind from the Qtilii Abbey mare Kuliischa.
