SALVATION ARMY
Territorial Congress Next Week For the first time in four years, the Salvation Army will hold a territorial congress in Wellington, which delegates from all parts of New Zealand will attend, from May 18 to May 28. The congress will be under the direction of Commissioner J. Evan Smith, Territorial Commander of New Zealand, and a special visitor will be Commissioner W. R. Dalziel, Territorial Commander of the Australian Southern Territory.
The Town Hall has been engaged for the public meetings, the first of which will be a welcome to the visiting commissioner and the delegates, at which the mayor, Mr. Hislop, will speak. A feature of this will be a Maori welcome by the Ngati-Poneke Young Maori Club. A Pageant of Youth will -be held on Saturday night, the boys and girls from the Wellington and Masterton Children s Homes taking part, also the Christchurc|i Life Saving Guards. Three meetings will be held on Sunday. a feature of the afternoon gathering being an address to modern youth by Commissioner Dalziel. A Home League rally for women will be held in the Vivian Street Citadel on Monday afternoon. Commissioner Dalziel being the speaker. The final public event will be the Youth Year Congress Musical Festival in the Town Hall on the Monday night, at which three bands and the Congress Songsters will render instrumental and vocal numbers, and the Christchurch, Life Saving Guards will present a spectacular item.
