(Second week).—Arthur Askey is hand-*. Ing Wellington a lot of laughs In the typical music hall offering, “King Arthur Was • a Gentleman” (State). With George Formby, who has (been doing a great deal of good work entertaining the Allied troops both at Home and In Italy, Askey has fought his way'to a high place among the screen’s comedians. This latest piece, as befits a musie hall star, is hotly topical and shows Big-Hearted Arthur among the eoldiers and seemingly having the time of his life. He Is given a lot of help from Evelyn Dail, the attractive singing star who was once one of the big attractions of Ambrose’s Band. (She Is one of the few swing vocalists who has sung at Buckingham Palace, an honour that came to her just before the war.) In “King Arthur Was a Gentleman,” Arthus Askey overcomes the usual obstacles set in the path of English screen comedians.
