This herd was founded 20 years ago by the purchase of matrons from Mr. W I. Lovelock’s well-known Friesland 1 ars Stud, and the first bull used was that great sire Royal Coluntha of Friesland Park whose darn was Queen Colantaa Cadillac, 8031 b. butterfat. One of the aged cows in the offering is Fairdale Colantua Cadillac, 7621 b. of fa t C.0.1t. (a winner of show championships aud a proved butterfat producer), and she was sired by r airdale Colantha Echo, a champion prizewinner at Palmerston North Show. It Is from these butter/fat strains the present herd has been built up. Eight of the heifers taken Into the herd last year were from dams returning over 44M)lb. butter-fat. The cows have been depasturing with Fairdale Champion Buster, whose dam is Fairdale Segis Belle—tracing back to King Segis of Friesland Park. Eight of the cows will be in milk, 9 are due in Jiay to July. 10 in August and the balance in September, as this herd haa been milked for city and school supply.
