SIX-BALL OVER
Cricket Delegates Favour Change (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, May 11. A reversion to six-ball overs was recommended to the halt-yearly meeting of the New Zealand Crieket Council by the Can-’ terbury Cricket Association on the grounds that the eight-ball over did not save time, was a strain on young players, hindered the development of fast bowlers, and slowed up matches. Figures indicating that more bowls were recorded with slx-bal overs in matches under comparable conditions to those with eight-bull overs were presented, and the general opinion favoured the change, hut because many associations had not instructed their delegates the matter was referred to the management committee for a report to the annual meeting. The view was expressed that representative matches next season should follow the lines of those last year, extensions being made as travelling conditions permitted. It was agreed that estimates of requirements of sports material for ensuing seasons could be more accurately end Properly made by retail anq wholesale firms than by the clubs concerned.
