Tributes On Retirement Tributes to Mr. J. Mitchell, who is retiring from the Lower Hutt City Council after 25 years’ service, were paid last night by the mayor and councillors nt. a meeting of the council. ‘ Mr. Mitchell has been deputy-mayor for 13 years. Mr. Andrews said that Mr. Mitchell had given yeoman service to the council and was very largely responsible for the progress Lower Hutt had made. Other councillors made reference to the work Mr. Mitchell had done on different •ommittees and to the wisdom aud leadership he had displayed. The mayoress, Mrs. Andrews, said that at. least' half the praise should go to Mrs. Mitchell, who had also contributed long service to the city. A presentation was made to Mrs. Mitchell.
