VAST EXPLOSIONS HEARD
Allied Bombers Blast Channel Coast INLAND TARGETS RAIDED LONDON, May 9. After a day of most intensive American and Allied air attacks ove:- north-western France people on the coast of England last night heard new tremendous explosions on the coast of France—the larg'jst of the war in this region. Today’s communique from the Air Ministry states that R.A.F. heavy bombers were out in strength, and among their targets in Franck were military installations on the coast. Other objectives were an aircraft factory in a northern suburb of Paris, where big fires were started, and a ball-bearing factory near the Alps, which was left completely in flames. Mosquitoes dropped many 40001 b. bombs on Berlin in a swift attack just before 1 a.m. Sea-mines were also laid. Seven aircraft are missing from all operations. The German radio this morning has reported the arrival of two bomber formations over the Reich.
