INAUGURAL FESTIVAL
Hutt Valley Competitions
The inaugural festival of the Hutt Valley Competitions Society is 'being held in the Labour Hall, Petone. -Large entries are providing an Interesting and entertaining variety of items. Results in the principal classes are:— Chief piano solo, open test (“Nocturne In E”): Miss Shirley Welsh (Lower Hutt), 1; Miss Isabel Macky (Lower Hutt), 2; Miss Patricia Waters (Wellington), 3. Pianoforte scholarship, 12 and under 15, test piece, “Minuet" (Paderewski): Peter Higinbotuam (Wellington), 1; Doris R. Veale (New Plymouth),. 2; Noney Galloway (Wellington), 3. Elocution scholarship, ladies or gentlemen. 16 and under 21; Miss Anne Iflsh (Lower Hutt), 1; Miss Paddy Turner (Masterton), 2. National song, ladies, own 1 selection: Miss Alma M. Collins (Otane), 1; Miss Sylvia Boyd (Wellington), 2.
