Mr. John L. Lewis has withdrawn the United Mine Workers’ application for -reinstatement in the American Federation of Labour in a bitter letter to the A.F.L. president. Mr. William Green, charging the A.F.L. executives with obeying imperative orders by “New Deal politicians” to keep the miners out of the organization. . . ~ , Mr. Lewis had been insistent that the United Mine Workers should be taken back on their own terms, whereas. Sir. Green contended that certain jurisdictional questions should.bejsettled first.
