PROTEST BY FORBURY TROTTING CLUB
Allocation Of Permits Dominion Special Service. DUNEDIN. May 8. A special meeting of the Forbury Park Trotting Club was held today, 'y* l6ll nosition arising from the decision to abandon its May meetings was discussed and it was decided to send a protest to the Trotting Conference concerning the allocation of the club’s permits to the Gore and Winton Trotting Clubs. The president, Mr. B. S. ed that the secretary had ascertained on the .evening of April 28 that would uot be available, and had K le ’ phoned members of the committee, firing them this Information, and also asking permission to inform the Piess position. It was necessary that those Canterbury trainers who were at the WUlington club’s meeting next day and bad horses engaged at Forbury Park should be Informed at the earliest possible moment. IP was also decided to hold a metting of the committee on the following Monday. The secretary communicated with the secretary of the Trotting Conference, Mr. W. 11. , Larcombe. in the afternoon, and explained the position to him and also told him that the meeting would be held in the evening. After the meeting, the dub again communicated with Mr. Larcombe. and told him it had been decided to apply tor Saturday, July 1. and Saturday, July 8 as dates for the meetings. They were then informed that the dates had been allocated to the two Southland clubs. In a letter explaining the position. Mr. Larcombe said that the Forbury club bad every opportunity to make use of the permits'. . Mr. H. Halliday said that though the cluib had abandoned its meeting it had not abandoned the permits.
