COMMISSIONS IN NAVY FOR EX-SOLDIERS

Nineteen former members of the New Zealand Army who volunteered to train for commissions in the R.N.Z.N J .R. are now sub-lieutenants. They were in the first division to begin training at H.M.b. King Alfred and will be followed by others who are expected to be commissioned in the course of a few weeks. Sub-Lieuten-ant L. E. Richardson, Auckland, pho was formerly a lieutenant in the Auckland infantry, passed out top of his division, while Sub-Lteutenants K. Price, Auckland, who was formerly a captain in the artillery. and E. Jackways, Hamilton who was a lieutenant in the Auckland infantry, were both highly commended for their good work. . L Others who are now sub-lieutenants are L. Eady, R. Mark. B. Faire, D Rae, P. Sewell and A. R. Rees, all of Auckland, R Mills, H. Blltcliff and R. Pryde, Christchurch; I. Mackay and A. D. Donovan, Wellington; S. Tudhope, Tauranga; S. Glyde, Eltham; D. Coleman, Ohingalti; K. Clark, Nelson; and K. Perron, King Country. Other R.N.Z.N.V.R. promotions announced are: — To commander: C. R. Carylon (Auckland). , „ _ To lieutenant-commander: J. F. Hardingham (Hamilton). To lieutenant: J. F. Pointon (Masterton), K. M. Todd (Otahuhu), E. F. Penty (Walroa), D. H. Lewis (Auckland); also A. H. Holland and D. H. Knowles. To paymaster sub-lieutenant: W. D. Rodgers (Christchurch), R. C. Stewart (Wanganui). To sub-lieutenant: A. F. Macalister, K. F. Sanderson, R. W. Haworth, C. Phelps, J. D. Pottlnger (all of Wellington), N. J. Northover, L. ,T. Sullivan (Palmerston North), T. G. Molloy (Ponsonby), A. C. McLaughlan (Southland), S. D. Leitch (Feildlng), R. F. Stead, A. J.
