RUGBY LEAGUE

Randwick Has Easy Win Playing aggressively, with some outstanding back movements, Randwiek overwhelmed Watersiders in the Rugby League fixture at Newtown Park on Saturday. Handling the greasy ball well, Randwick’s combination was good and, with a capable set of forwards, they should be strong championship contenders this year. Watersiders lacked cohesion, but with more experience they will be fielding a strong team, specially when some of the players learn that it is permissible to pick up the bail. The final score was: Randwiek, 46 (tries by Hopkins 2, Moses 2, Barnett, Mil. ler, Williams, Steel, Watson, McCabe, conversions by O'Halloran 4, Corkin, Pearce, Moses; O’Halloran kicked one goal). Waterside 8 (tries by O’Halloran and Carroll; O’Halloran converted one). In a ragged game with neither side displaying much dash, Newtown 3 (try by Collins) beat Central St. George 0. Korodale 8 (two tries by McKeach Hazlewood kicked a goal) beat Aotea 5 (try by Rangiwhetu, who also kicked a goal). Petone 15 (tyies by Stewart, Posselt, and Patrick; Solomon converted two tries and kicked a goal) beat Miramar 11 (tries by Greenfield 2 and Hansford, one converted by Gollop).
