BERLIN AGAIN

Daylight Raid By Americans R.A.F. OVER FRANCE LONDON, May 7. A strong force of American bombers this morning attacked Berlin. They were escorted by Eighth and Ninth Air Force and Royal Air Force fighters. No reports of the results of the attack are yet available. This follows a night of great activity by R.A.F. heavy bombers, which attacked railway targets in France in great force. Ludwigshafen, on the Rhine, was mso attacked by the R.A.F. during the uiglu, and mines were laid in enemy waters. Five of q,ur aircraft are missing from the night's operatious, Two of the targets in France whic-n received heavy attention were the railway yards at Mantes, about 30 miles north-west of Paris, gud Aubigny, south of Paris. Saturday Quiet.

Saturday was a comparatively quiet day for air operations over the Continent from Britain. In the morning Liberators, escorted by Mustangs, Lightnings and Thunderbolts, bombed military in stallations in the Pas de Calais, while in the afternoon military objectives m northern France were attacked by Mosquitoes of the R.A.F., R.N.Z.A.F., and R.A.A.F. without loss. During the evening a Mosquito on offensive patrol shot down a FWI9O. None of our aircraft were reported missing. In the Straits of Dover on Friday night there was a full south-westerly gale, and in daylight on Saturday in the same area there was a low ceiling of cloud, rain and heavy seas. On Friday night Bomber Command, laid mines m enemy waters. All the aircraft returned. The same night Coastal Command Beaufighters attacked enemy shipping Off the coast of Norway. A medium-sized merchant vessel was damaged. We lost one aircraft. . . On Saturday evening Ninth Air Force Thunderbolt fighter-bombers dive-bombed the Nazi airfield at Rennes. Later another formation of Thunderbolt fighters swept over the same area. Neither formation sighted any enemy aircraft, and all of ours returned safely.
