CANBERRA RECEPTION

New High Commissioner CANBERRA, May 5. New Zealand’s new High Commissioner to Australia, Mr. J. G. Barclay, and Mrs. Barclay were entertained at a reception today'by Mr. O. A. Berendsen. the retiring Commissioner, and Mrs. Berendsen. The reception was attended by members of the Diplomatic Corps and prominent Government officials. Mr. Barclay was officially welcomed by the Acting-Prime Minister. Mr. Forde, who said he was Sure that the spirit of co-operation displayed by the representatives of the countries at the recent Anzac Conference would be continued between the New Zealand High Commissioner and the Commonwealth Government. The Government was grateful for the cooperation displayed in tbe past. • Mr. Barclay said he arrived in Canberra with a feeling of confidence that he would be able to serve his country and also be helpful to Australia.
