MAP OF COASTLINE
R.A.F.’s Detailed Job
LONDON, May 5* To help the Allied armies when they march into Europe, a mall team of R.A.F! pilots has photographed every inch Of coastline for 3000 miles. They flew seven miles above the earth at six miles a minute, diving to shoot pictures from roof-top level. They used the fastest planes, stripped of guns, and relied on their speed to counter flak. In April visibility was so good that air reconnaissance revealed oetails or Hitler’s defences with deadly accuracy, and nearly half a million Pictures have pieced together into one vast map.
