Vice-Regal. Government House, Wellington, May 6. This morning his Excellency the Governor-General received Surgeon Commander 11. K. Corkill, who has relinquished the appointment of Honorary Surgeon to the Governor-General. The Honourable F. Cumming Bruce has left Government House.
Her Excellency Lady Newall attended Divine service at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul this evening.
Mr. F. C. Tuck, of Palmerston North, has been appointed town clerk of Thames, in succession to Mr. J. F. Eames. Mr. Tuck is accountant to the Palmerston North Hospital Board, and was formerly county clerk and hospital secretary at Whangaroa.
Lieut.-'Commandei' G. Bridson, D. 5.0., D.S.C., has arrived in Dunedin to take up the position of naval officer-in-clmrge. Lieut.-Commander Bridson is a form"!' New Zealand swimming champion, and he represented the Dominion at the Empire Games in Canada in 1980.
Mr. C. Pattison is retiring from the chairmanship of the Central Hawke’s Bay Electric Power Board after 23 years’ membership, being the first chairman and holding that office for periods totalling 10 years. Mr. Pattison has also been chairman of the Patungala County Council for 23 years of his 25 years’ membership. The Rev. W. M. Gitruer, minister of the Linwood Congregational Church, has been appointed minister at Trinity Con gregational Church, Christchurch, in succession to the Rev. A. V. Whiting, Who is returning to Johannesburg. Mr. Garner previously held appointments at churches in Palmerston North and Onehunga.
