Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, October 19. Conditions were very favourable fur training operations at Riecarton today, nud some useful work was done by horses booked to race at Trenlhnm. The No. G grass track was open for fast work, and under special arrangement, there were a fo«- gallops on the outside of the course proper. On the course proper Prudentia and Salilowa were companions over half a mile along the back streleh in 51 4-5, I’rndeiilia finishing half a length in front. ■Prudentia and Kevin will be taken Io Trentham by 11. Wilson on Thursday night. Kevin will be ridden by W. F. Ellis. Tutere and John o’ London covered six furlongs in l.lli 4-5. the last four in 51 1-5. Tutere finished half a length in front. Banco galloped seven furlongs iu 1.32 4-5, the last four iu 53 4-5. On the No. i‘> grass, Donnybrook Fair was kept in restraint in running six furlongs in 1.18 1-5. Good Scout and Langue d’Or also ran six furlongs in LIS 1-5, the Unit three in 38 1-5. Desert Strife showed a turn of speed galloping six furlongs iu J.IG 3-5, tlie last three iu 39. She should shape well at Trentham. Burberry ran home half a mile in 51 3-5, after taking 14 2-5 for the first furlong, and Scottish Dale covered six furlongs in 1.19 4-5. These stableniates were not taken to Washdyke on account of the bad track. St. Nattar and Gay Fort went over five furlongs In 1.4. the last three In 38. The former is not to go to Trentham and will race in the maiden event at Motukarara. Amorlad went very well in finishing in front of Lord Roland at the end of half a mile in 51 2-5. lie appears to have got over his soreness, and Is at preesnt in excellent order for a Cup preparation. The fastest time over six furlongs was recorded bv Lord Advocate, -who finished about live lengths in front of St. Cloud in 1.15, the last three in 38. Lord Advocate is exceptionally well, and. should hold his own in the Trentham sprint company. He will be again ridden by A. Stokes. Others over this distance included Night Pal. who easily beat Renarde in 1.19. and Sally Lux. who beat Honest Sal and Paper Lily In 1.19 2-5. > Some of the Ricearton horses engaged at the Wellington meeting who were to have gone north yesterday, included Botany, Hunting Charm, Denary, Pallid, John Gay, Lalla Meer and Arustra, were left on the wharf because of a shipping dispute. Those booked for Thursday night include Lord Advocate, Treasurer, Kevin, Prudentia, Honest Sal, Lord Roland, Lady Slyvla, Good Scout, Langue d’Or, Donnybrook Fair, Desert Strife, Tutere, John o’ London, Banco, Knight Commander, Renarde and Gulf Stream.
Acceptors for the first day uot making the trip are Bascule, Kiltie and St. Nattar. Arustra Is to race on the second day only, and Lord Roland and Lady Sylvia, who were balloted out of the Wellesley Stakes, will contest the Karitane Handicap on Monday. Accommodation has been booked at Riccarton for Lord Chancellor.
