LYTTELTON DISPUTE
Cargo For Wellington Left On Wharf (By Telegraph.—Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH. October 19. As the result of a dispute no cargo was loaded into the steamer express at Lyttelton today and the cargo for Wellington was left on the wharf. Included in the cargo was a number of racehorses for the North Island and these were sent .’back to Christchurch. The dispute arose ns the result of an attempt to transfer •tally clerks from the steamer express to other work, a practice which it is claimed ‘•has been recognized for many years. The men concerned refused the transfer and all work at the ship was stopped.
