DUTCH WAR BOND DRIVE
■A total of 11,585,000 dollars—this is the proud total Hollanders in the United -States have collected in their War Bond drive. The money will be used to finance the purchase of 29 patrol-torpedo boats. Rear-Admiral (Reginald (Belknap, of the United States Navy, said: “Your War BojuLdrive and its total are almost incredible. "When quotas were assigned to the various foreign language groups for the purchase of patrol-torpedo boats, Holland was assigned one. You undertook one and brought in sufficient money for 29.”
The acting president of the Dutch Club at New York presented Rear-Admiral Belknap with a broom symbolic of the spirit of Tromp. The Netherlands Ambassador, Dr. Lou-, don, said: “Many of our men found a grave in the sea, and I wish them a holy grave, a silent grave, a beautiful grave. I wish that a couple of these patroltorpedo boats shall fly the Netherlands Hag in the Java -Sea, and carry a broom in memory of those who perished in the Java Sea. May their broom sweep their enemies from the Java Sea.”
