The acting president of the Dutch Club at New York presented Rear-Admiral Belknap with a broom symbolic of the spirit of Tromp. The Netherlands Ambassador, Dr. Lou-, don, said: “Many of our men found a grave in the sea, and I wish them a holy grave, a silent grave, a beautiful grave. I wish that a couple of these patroltorpedo boats shall fly the Netherlands Hag in the Java -Sea, and carry a broom in memory of those who perished in the Java Sea. May their broom sweep their enemies from the Java Sea.”
