DRUNKEN MOTORIST FINED
James Hutchison Gavin, coal-dealer, aged 44, who pleaded guilty in the Magistrates’ Court. IVellington, yesterday, to having been intoxicated while in charge of a motor-truck in Taranaki Street on Friday evening, was convicted and fined £25 and costs by Mr. Stout, S.M . who also cancelled his driver’s .licence for 1~ months. . Senior-Sergeant G. J. Fame said a doctor who had examined accused after his arrest had certified that he was not in a fit state to be in charge of. a motorvehicle. . , Mr. T. A. Tarrant, in making a plea for leniency, said accused had been ill, ■and had taken the truck to go and collect his Social Security benefit. He was a hard-working citizen, who had pstabhshcfi a good business with his brother, and had never been in any kind of trouble before.
