Red Army Pressure In White Russia LONDON, October 15. Though 'the advances on the White Russian front have not been so spectacular as elsewhere, frenzied battles are still swaying. The Red Army is steadily surrounding Gomel and maintaining its pressure against Vitebsk. Captain Sertorius, the German military spokesman, admitted over the German radio tonight that Gomel is now left in a dangeroug salient 'because of German withdrawals on both sides. Though he talked of vigorous counter-attacks, he was obviously preparing German listeners for the fall of this key point in the German defences on the eastern front. The German news agency reported strong Russian attacks on the Leningrad front, which it claimed collapsed.
