Mr. Roosevelt’s Criticism Of Argentine Measure BUENOS AIRES, October 16. Four hours after President Roosevelt’s criticism of Argentina for its suspension of Jewish language newspapers reached Buenos Aires the Press office of the President, Genera] Ramirez, announced that the ban on Jewish language newspapers had been lifted. The Cabinet crisis has been resolved with the appointment of Senor Cesara Abeghino as Minister of Finance, Senor Gustavo Zuricria as Minister of Justice and Navy and Captain Ricardo Vugo as Minister of Public Works. However, the post of Foreign Minister is still not filled.
An earlier message from Washington stated that President Roosevelt, at his Press conference; sharply rebuked Argentina for its suspension of _ Jewish newspapers, saying that the action was characterized by the most repugnant features of Nazi doctrines. The “New York Times” correspondent at Montevideo said that a profound political crisis followed the resignation of three members of the Argentine' Cabinet. Troops in considerable numbers and in full wiir kit were on the move near Buenos Aires for use in any contingency. The President was reported to be having difficulty in replacing the three Ministers.
General Ramirez discharged all the Government employees who yesterday signed a manifesto calling on the Government to return to constitutional democracy, says the Buenos Aires correspondent of the Associated Press of America. General Ramirez said that the Government would not tolerate any tampering. He added that many of those who signed were connected with the extreme LeftReports from Montevideo say that the reshuffled Cabinet will be more reactionary than its predecessor. .
