Lord Suirdale, National Government, was returned for Peterborough in the by-election caused by the appointment of Lord Burgliley as Governor of Bermuda. The figures were: Suirdale, 11,976. S.'imual Bennet, Independent Socialist, 10,890. At the last election, Lord Burgliley. Conservative, had a majority of 5304.

Lord Suirdale (J. M. 11. Ilely-Ilutcbln-son), Is the elder son and heir ot the sixth Earl oil Donoughmore. He is aged 41, an' l hie mother was an American, Elena, daughter o£ the late Mr. M. I’. Grace, New York. Earl Donoughmore was Under-Secretary of State for War, 1(103-05, and Chairman of Committees, House of Lords, 1011-31.
