FIGHTING IN ITALY

German Sixth Army (British Official Wireless.) RIUGBY, October 15. The German Sixth Army has been identified in Italy. It was the Sixth Army which allowed itself to be surrounded at 'Stalingrad a year ago and to be virtually destroyed by the Russians. In this case, it is pointed out in London, that the Germans have not been discouraged from continuing their practice of carrying on the traditions of famous units by the appalling fate which overtook General Paulus’s troops. The same occurred with many of the divisions which were lost in Africa and Sicily. The new Sixth Army is likely to have received preference in the allocation of manpower.
