Requiem Mass Celebrated illy Telegraph.—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 14. Thousands of citizens filled the Roman Catholic Cathedral today and many more unable to gain admittance stood in driving rain outside the doors to hear the celebration of Solemn Poutificial Requiem Mass for the late Bishop Brodie. The cathedral was draped in black and purple, and the officiating priests wore black vestments. Mass was celebrated by Bishop Liston, of Auckland, and Archbishop O’Shea presided at the throne. The coadjutor Bishop of Dunedin, Bishop O’Neil, assisted in the sanctuary. _ Among the mourners were tlie Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan, representing the Prime Minister, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Parry, the Minister of Labour, Mr. Webb, tlie Leader of tlie Opposition Mr. Holland, Archbishop l\estWatsou, and the Rev. 'J'. W. Armour. The pull-bearers were members of the Hibernian Society, and other members o. this society provided lhe guard ot honour. The body was received at .Mount. Magdala, and will lie in state till tomorrow, when the burial will take place privately.
