(By Telegraph.—Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, October 13. At the Addington market heavier entries caused an easing in both the fat cattle aud fat sheep sections. Store, ewes were in keener demand, settled weather ensuring improved feed prospects. The store sheep entry of 1046 hoggets were of good quality and prices were about the same as last week. The highest figure was 39/for halfbreds, and open-wooiled sheep made 34/-. Other lines showed the effects of the late season aud made from 25/9 to 32/-. Ewes aud lambs were in strong demand. Most of the ewes were in poor condition, but the lambs were good. The highest price was 21/-, all counted, for aged ewes and black-faced lambs. Other lots made from 16/3 to 18/4, and inferior sold from 8/6 to 13/-. The fat sheep entry totalled about 4500, agaiust 5000 last week. Ewes, predominated. Some good quality wethers were forward, aud these, together with the restricted wether entry, were eagerly sought after. A good proportion of the yarding was comprised of light and unfinished ewes and these were not wanted by the trade. With the recent big yardlugs there was not the same life in the market, and there was a drop of from 2/6 to 4/- a head on best quality sheep and Slightly more ou the remainder. The highest price for ewes was 56/7, and for wethers 51/1. Shorn sheep were forward in increased numbers, old ewes selliug from 26/- to 30/7, mid wethers from 36/7 t 0 46/7. , n , . The fat cattle entry was 484, compared with 426 last week. The quality was very patchy and the yarding included a good many light cattle. The market opened at a sharp drop on last week's figures of up to 50/- a bead, but there was a steadying later and the average decliue over the whole sale was from 40/- to 45/a head. The best beef made from 60/- to 64/- per liWlb.: good, 56/- to 59/-; medium, 50/- to 55/-; inferior, to 40/-; best heifer beef, 55/- to SS/-; good, 51/- to 5-1/-; medium, to 48/-; inferior, to 43/-; best cow beef, to 54/-; ordinary, to 40/-; iuferior, to 36/-, all per 1001 b.
