ILLEGAL LIQUOR SALE
“There is far too much of this offence,” raid Mr. Stout, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, AVellington, yesterday, when sentencing John Thomas Hartley, clerk, 37, to 14 days’ imprisonment ou a charge of keeping intoxicating liquor for sale. Sen-ior-Sergeant. A. 11. Barnes said defendant had been found on Tuesday night in the act of selling liquor to servicemen. He was in the habit of doiug this iu the streets. Defendant said lie had purchased some beer and wine. The parcel was a bulky one. He did not want the wine, aud had got rid of it far the purchase price.
