General Smuts’s Visit CAPE TOWN. October 11. Field-Marshal Smuts will make a major Contribution to the peace settlement. He will see that the peace is just. This reference in a speech by the Finance Minister (Mr. Hofmeyr) to Field-Marshal Smuts’s presence in London is taken as a hint that Qne of the purposes of the visit is to assist in preparing for the peace settlement and the post-war reconstruction of Europe.
