ENDING OF MONSOON
Patrol Activity Resumed In Burma LONDON, October 11. Small scale land fighting has broken out in Burma now that the monsoon season has ended. Both sides are using patrols to probe each Ollier’s position. Today’s communique from India says Ihat the enemy is worrying about his outposts in the Arakan and Chidwin districts. and is patrolling them in unusual strength. A| one point British troops ambushed n greatly superior number of Japanese with slight losses lo themselves, and repulsed two Japanese attacks in the hills in the north. In both cases heavy casualties were inflicted on the enemy. R.A.F. dive-bombers and Wqljingtons have also been attacking enemy supply centres, and n successful raid was carried out near Promo. American bombers. (hanks to the better weather, are. ranging over Burma with greater, freedom, and they flew over .1000 miles ,to bomb railway yards at Mandalay, causing considerable damage. All the aircraft returned.
