TROOPS IN PACIFIC

United States Strategic Responsibility Com-men'ting 1 on an editorial in yesterday’s “Dominion” complaining of a lack of publicity about the New Zealand troops fighting in the Pacific, the Minister of Finance, Mr. Nash, stated last night that it should be remembered that the operations within that area were the strategic restponsiibiliy of the United States. While it was sometimes well worth while and even, a help to morale to give information in regard to operations in which New Zealand forces were engaged, it was also well to remember that newspapers did leave the country and that some of them at times did reach enemy hands. The Government was willing and anxious to let everyone know what our men were doing, particularly as they were doing it so well, but the wishes of those in charge of the operations must be considered. The safety of our -men and the conduct of tlie war must .always be the paramount consideration.
