LONDON, October 11. _ Messages today report tha.t the Russians have reached a point five miles east of Gomel, and are also within 15 miles of Vitebsk. The Germans are throwing in reserves on the Nevel front. Ukrainian guerrilla forces, co-operat-ing with the Red Army, have thrown the Germans out of villages near the Dnieper, north of Kiev, and have fought off counter-attacks.
