Academy Exhibition Sales
These are remarkable days for local artists. Some £lOOO worth of pictures were sold at the annual exhibition last year of the New Zealand ’Academy of Fine Arts, and it seems possible that tins figure might be equalled, if not eclipsed, this year. At the private view on Friday night over £4OO worth of pictures were sold, apart altogether from the value of the 25 prizes associated with the members’ art union. Another £5O worth were sold on Saturday. The pictures sold are as follows:— By Arch. Nicoll: “Under Trees, Law Courts,” “Wall Street," “Autumn, “Summer Clouds, Harewood,’ harm Gate.” By Cedric Savage: ‘‘Titahi Coastline,” “Titahi,” “Mana Island, “Porirua District” and “Boat Sheds, Titahi.” By Sydney L. Thompson: “Quay, Pineroff, Concarneau. By Basil Honour: “After Rain/ Whangarei, “Raraontii a Watea” and'“Clouds over Wanaka.” By W. A. Suteri: “The Open Gateway,” “Clouds Over Mt. Pleasant, “Roadside Ramyard” (the two latter water colours). By T. A. McCormack (w'ater colours) : “Autumn, Wairau River,” “Havelock North Stream, ‘Bate Autumn” and “Wellington Harbour. Bv W S. Wauchop: “Afternoon, Appleby, and “The Old Stack” (both water colours).
