Farewell At Wanganui

WANGANUI, October 10. To farewell four senior officers ot the Railways Department in Wanganui,u social gathering was held m tfie Railway Social Hall. Guests of honour were tie former district traffic manager, Ml’. A. J. Pritchard, the assistant distiiet tiatlic manager, Mr. C. Aitken, the AVangaitu, stationmuster, Mr. N. S. Dew, and the officer in charge of goods, Mr. G. a. Campbell. The chairman of the Wanganui branch of the Railway Officers Institute. Mr. K. IL Thomas, presided_ The loyal and efficient service ol the lour retiring officers was referred to by tue general manager, Mr. E. Casey, tn a letter road bv the district traffic managei, Mr P. H. Curtis. Visitors came from New Plymouth and other Taranaki stations, and also from stations between Marton and Feilding. Stations on the Stratford-Okahakura line were also represented. Presentations were made to eacii of the retiring officers.

In an effort to bring the church to the people the Hamilton Council of. Churches is conducting a month of witness, leas have been held fortnightly for the Sunday sei 00l teachers ami Bible class leaders. There bus been an exchange of pulpits, and an open-air meeting lias been held. The period of witness will conclude with ~ tli.'iukssivintr service.
