UNUSUAL ACCIDENT
Man Hit By Flying Milk Can
To be suddenly in the midst of some 40, flying 10-gallon milk cans was the unenviable experience of Mr. C. Osborne, 173 Grant Road, freezing chamber hand, while waiting for a bus at the junction of the Hutt Road and Ngahauranga Gorge at noon yesterday. Mr. Osborne received lacerated wounds to his right hand and scalp, injuries to his right shoulder, concussion and shock, when one of the cans hit him, and he was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance. The accident was caused by a fully-loaded city council milk lorry skidding violently when turning out of Ngahauranga Gorge on to th? Hutt Road. The lorry hit the edge of the grass in the centre of the Hutt Road, then skidded across the road, hitting the curb near the bus stop. Th is second blow caused between 40 and 50 of the milk cans to fly off the lorry. In a few moments well over 400 gallons of milk was flooding the Hutt Road, providing a. feast for the cats and dogs of the neighbourhood. ■
