FURLOUGH APPEALS
Returned Men Wanted On Boards (Rv Telegraph -I'ress Association.! (by le ° auOKljANDi October 9. The 'Auckland B.'S.A. today .sent the following telegram to the Dominion head auarters Wellington: — Q “Appeals against further overseas service bv furlough men are to be heard in a few days by the No. 1 Armedll' orces Appeal Board, consisting of civilians. AV e request you to press the Minister to appoint at once special boards comprising returned .men of the last war or this war or 'both to hear these appeals. Me suggest that special use be made of Mr. Cyril Snedden, at present on the No. 2 The president, Mr. A. P. Postlewaite, in a statement said that several men who intended to appeal had raised strong objections to having their cases heard by appeal board members who had not seen active service and could not therefore deal with cases from the point of view of personal knowledge of warfare. Air. Postlewaite considered that no person who had not himself served his country overseas should be placed in a position ot savdng whether or not a man who had returned should again be sent overseas on active service.
