KELIGIOUS NOTICES. “WHO MAY ABIDE THE DAY OF His COMING? AND WHO SHALL STAND WHEN HE APPEARETH? FOR HE IS LIKE A REFINER’S FIRE AND LIKE FULLERS’ SOAP." (Malachi 3:2) It Is abundantly clear from ’’the signs of the times” that the day of Christ's coming is now near. The Scriptures teach that when Christ conies He “shall be revealed from Heaven with His mighty Angels in flaming fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thess. 1:7-9). How pertinent, therefore, are the questions “who may abide the day of His coming? and who shall stand when He appeareth ?’’ It is perfectly clear from Hie Scriptures that those only will “stand” when Christ comes who (1) believe the Gospel Christ taught, i.e„ “the Gospel of the Klndom of God” (Matt. 4:23, Matt. 9:35, Mark 1:14, Luke 8:1, Luke 4:43, -Mark .16:15-16, Roms. 1:1(1, 1 Cor. 15:1-2); (2) Submit to the baptism Christ appointed, i.e„ baptism “in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins’’ (Mark 16:16, John 3:5, Roms. 6:3-5, Gals. 3:27-29, Acts 2:38, Aets 8:12. Acts .18:8) and thereafter (3) obey the commandments Christ gave (John 14:15 and 21, John 15:14, Luke 6:46-49, Hebs. 5:9, James 1:22, 1 John 2:4, 1 John 5:3, 2 John 0, Rev. 22:14). Thus, belief, baptism and obedience are the Christ-appointed conditions of salvation, and according to the Scriptures those only who humbly conform to these conditions will “stand when Christ appeareth.” Reader, for further enlightenment regarding the foregoing and a thorough exposition of the great truths of the Bible, you should read the book CHRISTENDOM ASTRAY.
