Emergency Procedure To
Be Discontinued
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, October 8. “Now that the system peak loading for this year appears to have passed, the procedure which was necessary to control the load in cases of emergency as_ indicated on May 25, 1943, will 'be discontinued,” wrote the Electricity Controller, Mr. F. T. M. Kissel, in a letter received by the Opunake Electric Power Board today. Mr. Kissel warned, however, that it was still necessary for all supply authorities to continue their efforts to conserve electricity. The system maximum weekly units generated this year had increased by 3.51 per cent, and the system peak load by 5.6'2 per cent. The increases were over the maximum for ID' l -- "The position is still being carefully watched,” continued Mr. Kissel, “and those supply authorities who continue to exceed their allocation will bo communicated with. It is anticipated that only a very small net percentage increase will be available next year, and in your own interests it is advisable to reduce consumption now in order to meet new limits which will fee necessary for next year.”
